A resolution for a revolutionary life change

Resolution

The time is right, the year is new, I should choose new goals for me
People talk of resolutions, thinking that is what we need
Change my habits on my own, depending on my inner drive
Hoping life will turn out right, fortune smiling helps me thrive
Recover from my setbacks all, waiting for my breaks to come
Promising to do much better, striving hard to bring it home
One improvement needs another, never seems to be enough
Is this what my life’s about, my meaning all wrapped up in stuff?
Relationships are hard to keep, lots of work for little pay
It’s easier out on my own, making choices my own way
Settling for second best, wanting more but getting less
Life is just whatever comes, accept it to avoid the stress
Regrets abound, for my mistakes, wish I could redo some things
On the stage, life’s puppet show, wish I could have pulled some strings

Revolution

The new year is the time to start, choose values with priority
My life is needing revolution, this fact is what I plainly see
Begin new habits with God’s help, learn His truth, for this I strive
Can’t rely on just myself, I need God’s presence with me, live
He makes all things work for good, blessings here, I do have some
I trust in Him to work things out, with joyful heart His praises hum
My character’s a daily choice, sometimes decisions are so tough
I look for ways to give to others, especially those whose life is rough
Marriage is the grace of life, their smile is bright on each new day
Sacrifice is daily needed, together is the way we’ll stay
Our family is so rewarding, daily we all wash and dress
Fulfillment in our daily roles, and helping clean up every mess
Thankful for the Lord’s forgiveness, our joy is full, so our heart sings
At end of life, our faith complete, “Oh death,” we say, “Where is thy sting?”
